Etsy's deduction is not one commission but five separate fees. Enter your sale amount and see the $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing (US/Romania/Türkiye selectable), the 12/15% Offsite Ads fee and the 2.5% currency conversion — plus what actually reaches you and your effective deduction rate.

Model: the transaction fee (6.5%) applies to item + buyer-paid shipping; payment processing to the same total (country rate + fixed fee); the listing fee renews per sale ($0.20). Offsite Ads is charged only when the order came from Etsy's off-site advertising; the 2.5% currency conversion applies only when your listing currency differs from your payout currency. Rates are starting points — verify exact figures on your own Etsy payment account. Shipping labels, VAT/sales tax and Etsy Ads (on-site advertising) are not included here.

Türkiye mode: Etsy Payments is active in Türkiye; payouts arrive in USD via Payoneer. We deliberately did not embed a Türkiye processing tariff (unverified) — enter the rate and fixed fee from your own payment account. If you ship via micro-export (ETGB), the sale is invoiced without VAT and, subject to conditions, an income tax reduction on e-export earnings may apply — consult your accountant.

Why “what is Etsy's commission” is the wrong question

Sellers coming from other marketplaces look for a single commission rate. Etsy does not work that way: a sale is touched by up to five separate fees — the $0.20 listing fee (renewed automatically on every sale), the 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing, Offsite Ads when the order is ad-attributed, and currency conversion when your listing and payout currencies differ. Each looks small; together they routinely add up to 20-30% of the sale. The only number that matters is the total.

The fee most sellers forget: Offsite Ads

Etsy runs off-site ads for your listings on its own and charges 15% (12% for shops above $10,000 in the past 365 days) when an order comes from one of them. You only learn about the fee after the order, and shops above the threshold cannot opt out. The practical defence is to price so that even an ad-attributed sale stays profitable — flip the Offsite Ads switch in the calculator to see whether your price survives it.

Selling from Türkiye: Payoneer and micro-export

Etsy Payments has covered Türkiye since 2020; payouts arrive in USD via Payoneer. Shipping with the micro-export (ETGB) process keeps the sale VAT-free, and an income tax reduction on e-export earnings may apply subject to conditions — details in our guide to selling on Etsy from Türkiye. We deliberately did not embed a Türkiye processing tariff: enter the rate from your own payment statement instead of trusting an unverified number.

After the fees: your real profit

What is left after Etsy's fees is not profit — product cost, packaging and shipping labels still come out of it. Enter your cost in the calculator for net margin, and see also the break-even calculator and the product cost (COGS) calculator.

الأسئلة الشائعة

How much does Etsy take from a sale in total?

There is no single 'Etsy commission'; the deduction has 5 parts: a $0.20 listing fee (renewed per sale), a 6.5% transaction fee on item + shipping, a payment processing fee (country rate + fixed fee), a 12-15% Offsite Ads fee if the order came from Etsy's off-site advertising, and a 2.5% currency conversion when your listing currency differs from your payout currency. On a typical sale the total can reach 20-30% — this tool shows exactly that total.

Which amount is the transaction fee charged on?

Item price + buyer-paid shipping. Baking shipping into the price as 'free shipping' changes nothing: 6.5% is still computed on the full amount collected. That's why entering the shipping-inclusive amount gives the correct result.

What is the Offsite Ads fee — is it mandatory?

Etsy advertises your listings off-site (Google, Facebook, etc.) on its own; if an order comes from such an ad, 15% of the sale is charged (12% for shops with $10,000+ sales in the past 365 days). Shops above $10,000 in the past 12 months cannot opt out; smaller shops can. The fee is only known after the order — so pricing your products to stay profitable even on an ad-attributed sale is the safest approach.

Can you sell on Etsy from Türkiye?

Yes. Etsy Payments has covered Türkiye since 2020; you can open a shop from Türkiye and receive payouts in USD via Payoneer (PayPal is not available in Türkiye). In Türkiye mode you need to enter the payment processing rate from your own statement — we did not embed a TR tariff because we could not verify it. See the guide linked below for details.

When does the 2.5% currency conversion apply?

When your shop's listing currency differs from your payout currency, Etsy converts the money itself and charges 2.5%. A seller listing in USD and receiving payouts in EUR pays it; if both currencies match, there is no charge. The checkbox in the tool toggles this scenario.

Is the amount after fees my profit?

No. Product cost, packaging, shipping labels (if you pay them), Etsy Ads (on-site advertising) and any taxes have not been deducted yet. Enter your product cost in the tool to see net profit and margin. For order-level profit tracking with actual deductions, see Verimle's Etsy integration — there profit is computed from order data and labeled 'estimated'.
