How the discount and its profit impact are calculated
A discount is not just a lower sticker price — it comes straight out of your profit. This tool separates two questions that sellers often blur: what the customer pays after the discount, and what you keep after cost and commission. The two formulas behind it are simple:
- Discounted price = list × (1 − discount / 100). The discount amount is the difference between the list and the discounted price.
- Net profit = price − cost − price × commission / 100. Because commission is charged on the sale price, a lower price lowers the commission too — but never enough to offset the lost revenue.
Take a product with a 300 TL list price, a %25 discount, a 150 TL cost and a %20 commission:
| Measure | Formula | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Discounted price | 300 × (1 − 0,25) | 225 TL |
| Discount amount | 300 − 225 | 75 TL |
| New net profit | 225 − 150 − 225 × 0,20 | 30 TL |
At the list price the net profit was 300 − 150 − 300 × 0,20 = 90 TL; after the discount it drops to 30 TL. A %25 discount cut the profit by two thirds — the kind of impact a headline discount rate hides until you do the math.
The break-even price: the floor for your discount
Every discount has a floor. Below the break-even price — cost / (1 − commission) — the sale no longer covers the product and the commission, and each order runs at a loss. In the example above, break-even is 150 / (1 − 0,20) = 187,50 TL. As long as the discounted price stays above that, you keep a net profit; if a deeper discount pushes it under, the calculator flags the sale as a loss.
This is why the tool asks for your commission instead of assuming one: the break-even point moves with the category rate. Enter your own commission, and verify the exact rate — and any campaign-specific commission — from your Seller Center.
Net profit on a marketplace: what this tool leaves out
To keep the campaign math clear, this calculator deducts only cost and commission. On a real marketplace order there is more: shipping/desi cost, service fees, %1 withholding tax and return costs all come off the same sale. A discount that still looks profitable here can turn thin, or negative, once those are added.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the discounted price calculated?
Discounted price = list price × (1 − discount rate / 100). For example, applying a %25 discount to a 300 TL list price gives 300 × (1 − 0,25) = 225 TL, and the discount amount is 75 TL. Just enter the list price and discount rate in the fields on the left.
How much does a discount lower my profit?
The whole discount amount comes straight off your profit, and the commission also drops a little because the sale price is lower. This tool calculates the net profit at the list price and at the discounted price separately and shows the gap as 'profit change', so you see the real cost of the campaign as a number.
What is the break-even price and how do you find it?
The break-even price is the price at which you make neither profit nor loss: cost / (1 − commission rate / 100). Because commission is taken on the sale price, we divide the cost directly by (1 − commission). If the discounted price falls below this value, the sale runs at a loss and the tool shows a warning. Verify the exact commission rate from your Seller Center.
How deep a discount can I give relative to my commission?
As long as the discounted price does not drop below the break-even price (cost / (1 − commission)), the sale stays profitable. Enter your cost and commission, raise the discount rate, and watch the net profit and margin change live so you can stop before the loss threshold.
Why does this tool ask me for the commission?
Commission rates vary by category and marketplace, so we don't assume a default rate. If you enter your own category commission, the post-campaign net profit and margin come out close to reality. Verify the exact rate — and any campaign-specific commission — from your Seller Center.
Is this exactly my net profit after the campaign?
This tool computes net profit from product cost and commission only; it does not include shipping/desi cost, service fees, withholding tax or returns. For the real net profit with every deduction applied per sale, use the Trendyol profit calculator.
