You're in profit on this product 👍 But can you protect it?
Margins erode when commissions/shipping change or a rival cuts price. Verimle watches 24/7, prevents below-floor sales, and flags unfair deductions.
What actually remains from an Amazon sale
The referral fee is only the first cut. From the sale price, Amazon takes commission with 20% VAT added on top, you pay shipping, the state withholds a 1% e-commerce withholding tax, and you remit VAT on your margin. Only after all of these do you see the real net profit — which is what the calculator above isolates.
Why the VAT-on-top model matters
On Amazon a 15% referral fee is not 15% of the sale; the 20% VAT on top makes it about 18%. If you priced your product using Trendyol's VAT-inclusive logic, your Amazon margin is thinner than you think. Break down the commission line in detail with the Amazon commission calculator.
Selling with FBA
If you fulfil through Fulfilment by Amazon, the referral fee is not the whole story: storage and per-unit fulfilment fees come on top and change your real margin. Layer those costs in with the Amazon FBA calculator before you decide on a price.
Pricing to a target margin
Use the calculator in reverse: fix your cost and rates, then adjust the sale price until the net margin hits your target. To understand the difference between margin and markup, see the profit margin calculator. Before joining a deal or coupon, check that the discounted price still clears break-even.
Comparing with other marketplaces
The same product nets differently on each channel. Put Amazon, Trendyol, Hepsiburada and n11 side by side with the marketplace profit comparison.
Method and sources
The calculator uses the rate you enter, the Amazon VAT-on-top referral-fee model, the 1% withholding tax base (VAT-excluded sale) and a simplified VAT-on-margin figure. Referral fees and the exact VAT position must be verified in Amazon Seller Central and your accounting summary.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is net profit calculated on Amazon?
Amazon referral fee (base + 20% VAT), shipping, the 1% e-commerce withholding tax, VAT payable and product cost are deducted from the sale price. What remains is this product's net profit; the tool shows each line separately.
How much does the 20% VAT on commission cut my profit?
Amazon applies the referral fee to the base and adds 20% VAT on top. So a 15% commission is effectively about 18% of the sale as a deduction. Confusing it with Trendyol's VAT-inclusive model seriously distorts per-unit margin decisions.
Why is VAT payable deducted from profit?
The difference between the VAT you collect on the sale and the VAT you paid on purchase is remitted to the state. The tool simplifies this as VAT on the sale-minus-cost margin; if you have expense VAT credits the real figure can be lower — verify it on your accounting summary.
Which commission rate should I enter?
Enter the referral fee from your own Amazon Seller Central, shown for your product category. The tool default is a starting reference only; a category change can shift the rate. If you use FBA, add the Amazon FBA calculator for storage and fulfilment fees.
How do I find the break-even sale price?
Keep cost and rates fixed and lower the sale price until net profit approaches zero. The price where net profit is zero is your break-even; any discount below it books a loss.
Is Amazon or Trendyol more profitable?
It depends on the product and category. Use the marketplace profit comparison tool to compare the same product across both models; looking at raw rates is misleading because the commission VAT model differs.
